The 7.62-mm rifle M14 is a light weight, air cooled, gas operated, magazine fed, shoulder weapon, designed primarily for semi-automatic or full automatic fire at the cyclic rate of 750 rounds per minute. Rifle is chambered for 7.62-mm NATO cartridge and is designed to accommodate a 20-round cartridge magazine, the rifle bipod M2, grenade launcher M76, and the bayonet knife M6. The grenade launcher sight M15 is also installed when the grenade launcher is used. For training purposes a blank ammunition firing attachment; M12 and breech shield M3 are used and during cold weather or arctic operations a winter trigger kit M5 is also utilized.
